EQUIP the Minister
Jesus' work wasn't only the cross. He devoted His ministry life to calling,
developing, training, and sending a group of men who would be the leaders of His
Church. He also prepared hundreds of others for the explosive growth that took
place at Pentecost (Acts 2:41). So we are committed to equip people for
ministry, to do it as a team, and to continually send more developed, trained, and
commissioned ministers into the world.
Every believer needs “front row attention”- if we fail to equip others who can
“know a row,” our ministries will remain an audience and the potential for
multiplication will be lost.
How does Jesus train whose with the heart to be equipped?
What does a candidate for ministry look like?
• Taken from the model of Christ.
AVAILABLE … Those who make themselves available for Ministry.
Luke 5:1-3
FAITHFUL … Those who are faithful to His Expectations for them.
Luke 5:4-5
TEACHABLE … Those who are teachable regarding their Actions & Activities.
Luke 5:6-10a
RESPONSIVE … Those who are responsive to His leadership
Luke 5:10b-11
Jesus’ example calls ministry to be more than a platform for ministering to
people, to being a people ministry. He equips the RESPONSIVE through one or
more of the following means:
1. Equipping on the Run
a. Practically every activity was designed to lead His disciples to a conviction
about His person. Jesus used everyday events and activities to invest His life
intentionally in key people.
2. Equipping Getaways
3. Equipping projects
a. A pattern emerges in which Jesus withdraws by Himself for renewal, rest
and direction from His father. At other times Jesus included His disciples in a
time away for renewal, rest and training.
4. Equipping a consistent team
MULTIPLY Missionaries
When people think of missionaries, they usually picture travelers preaching the
gospel in distant, foreign lands. While sending missionaries abroad is important, it’
s also important to send people across the street. GC3 desires to
cultivate localized Evangelists & missionaries who will first reach their surrounding
cultures and then branch out to the world.
The GC3 embodies the Missional heart of God’s Great Commission
(Matt. 28:19), helping qualified leaders called by God to plant new D-Groups,
churches and replant declining churches in our nation and around
the world.
The GC3 obeys the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19) by
starting churches: an effective, organic, and practical means of evangelism. With
training programs and various resources,
What does a candidate for missions look like?
• VISIONaries these ministers understand and communicate clearly and
concisely theology, philosophy of ministry, Jesus’ strategy of the Church.
• COACHing ministers are able to teach, preach and train existing disciples,
ministers and missionaries effectively.
• REPRODUCING, able to mentor and lead others through the rhythms,
identities, and ethos of the story of God and mankind.
Missionaries are sent by God (like Jesus) into our culture to restore all things to
a right relationship with God. We live actively as missionaries for the sake of
others and God’s glory.
